What we found

3,945 of 4,803 scored MSP websites have no active blog — either no blog at all, or one whose most recent post is old enough that it reads as abandoned.

The remaining 18% are publishing into a market where four in five competitors have stopped.

Why it matters

An abandoned blog is worse than no blog. A visitor who lands on a resources page whose newest item is three years old learns something about how the firm maintains things, and it is not flattering.

For the minority still publishing, the competitive picture is unusually favourable: organic visibility in local IT services is contested by a fraction of the firms that could contest it.

What this number can't tell you

  • ·Website stats cover the 4,803 firms scored on the current rubric, not all 21,555 in scope.
  • ·'Active' is judged from the site's own published dates; an undated post stream can be misread as stale.

What to do about it

  • If the blog is dead, remove the link before adding a post. A visible graveyard costs more than an absent section.
  • One genuinely local, genuinely specific post a month outperforms a syndicated feed of vendor articles.
