11,642 firms have exactly one office on file and 6,545 have none beyond their HQ record — 84% single-site.
3,577 firms (16%) run two or more offices, and just 1,180 (5.4%) operate in more than one state.
The multi-office minority are genuinely spread out: their furthest office averages 551 miles from HQ, so this is acquisition, not suburbs.
Why it matters
